While the initial memory in most peoples' minds will point them to the 1983 film War Games, a thorough romp through the demo will prove that the game offers much more.

The gameplay is somewhat simple. By setting up bases and silos in strategic areas across the globe, you plan a strategy to take down other nuclear powers. By launching stations in the air, you assume a firing point for your weapons. Your opponents (computer-controlled in the demo; the full version offers multi-player through LAN and Internet) will be doing the same thing in a race to become the first to strike.

You won't be alone in your war, though. Using avatars, you will form a "cabinet" of your own to help you make decisions and provide enemy intelligence.

The game is 3D accelerated and looks very good. The fully rotatable world provides a perfect view of the entire planet, or a close-up on certain continents. The lighting effects can be seen all over the place, ranging from the burning trail of a rocket to the erection of a silo.

The demo is timed, offering just enough for you to build a station or two and research your nukes. By the time you target your first nation, you will probably have to end your game time. You can purchase the full version from the author's home page, so don't be surprised if you find yourself there!
